2023 Abington Commissioner Candidates

Lisa Mallon

Ward 1

Hi! I’m running for Ward 1 Commissioner to serve the community focusing on transparency, safety, and fiscal accountability. My husband Greg and I raised our 4 daughters living in Ward 1-1 before moving to 1-2 and finally retiring in 1-3. I’m an avid runner and guarantee I’ve been on every street in our beautiful Ward. If you see me please wave.

Politics on a local level are about doing what’s best for the community as a whole. I look forward to meeting as many people as possible.

Maria Dellamonica

Ward 6

I will commit to serving the residents of Ward 6 with honesty, integrity, and transparency. I will strive to listen to and address the questions and concerns of my constituents.

I was born and raised in Abington township and have been a resident of North Hills for over 40 years. Together with my husband, Paul, we raised four children here. I’ve been working in education for forty years.

Dennis Zappone

Ward 9 (Incumbent)

I am Abington Township’s Ward 9 Commissioner. I oversee Ardsley and parts of Roslyn.

In a local election, it’s not about political party it’s about the person and what that person has done for your family and your community.

Ellen Staerk

Ward 13

I am running for Abington Township Commissioner for Ward 13 Glenside. We can no longer sit by and watch our community falter under a gag-rule government.  Our community needs to restore the foundations that make Glenside a vibrant and safe community.

I have lived and worked in Abington Township since early childhood.  I was fortunate to marry a lifelong Abington resident and to raise my 4 children in Glenside. They are a product of Abington Schools when they had a PA Blue Ribbon designation.  I opened and ran a successful business with my husband, for over 20 years, it is now in the hands of our sons.  I have sold Real Estate for over 30 years.

I believe the board of Commissioners needs an experienced business voice that will work to keep township taxes down without hampering community management and services.  As a resident, I know I can give Glenside the caring, capable, and mindful Commissioner we deserve.

James Bottone
