Ward 4 – McKinley

About Joe Dunn
I am running for Commissioner of Ward 4 because I believe we need strong, diverse leadership that is truly responsive to the needs of every resident. I will work tirelessly to build connections that benefit all neighbors, because effective representation begins with genuine engagement and a clear commitment to service.
I grew up in Roxborough and now live in Abington. My journey began in my family’s third-generation printing business, where I learned the value of hard work and leadership, eventually becoming an owner-operator.
When the industry rapidly changed, I successfully pivoted to healthcare, earning my BSN from Liberty University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. As a Registered Nurse at Abington Memorial Hospital, I earned certification in rehabilitation nursing, was an original member of the hospital’s Mentorship Program, and served as a clinical instructor for first-year nursing students.
In addition, I proudly served six years in the U.S. Army Reserve as an Air Traffic Controller, where I developed high-level problem-solving, communication, and multi-tasking skills—the critical thinking skills that I will bring to local leadership.
The Township Board of Commissioners has a 14-to-1 split. Ward 4 needs a commissioner who will bring critical thinking and a diverse perspective to ensure all decisions are thoroughly vetted and sound. As your Commissioner, I will focus on these three core priorities:
- Protecting our Neighborhoods: Stopping increasing crime, such as theft and vandalism, that threatens our community’s safety and peace of mind.
- Reinvigorating Local Business: Focusing on strategies that allow small businesses to thrive, fostering a close-knit business community, and restoring the atmosphere conducive to vibrant, small-town activity in Ward 4.
- Ensuring Fiscal Responsibility: Advocating for smart spending, transparency, and a tax structure that supports growth while protecting homeowners.
My diverse background, as a small business owner, Registered Nurse, and Army Veteran, equips me with the experience and drive to serve effectively. I ask for your vote so I can bring this unique perspective to the role of Commissioner and work for the future we all want in Abington.
Let’s build a safer, stronger, and more connected Ward 4—together.
